What Is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is one of the most ancient forms of traditional medicine dating back to at least 2,000 years ago, originating in China. Today it is used worldwide and continually being tried and tested, becoming one of the most popular and recognised complementary therapies.
With the insertion of fine needles in specific points on the body, Acupuncture works on regulating the flow of Qi along channels in the body known as meridians dispelling any blockages that may be causing disharmony or ill health whilst encouraging balance. With the use of diagnostic tools such as observing the tongue and taking the pulse, acupuncture not only addresses the symptoms but also the root of the condition.
As well as treating presenting symptoms, diagnostic methods enable Chinese Medicine practitioners to detect weaknesses or disharmony in the body before they become a physical problem. Acupuncture can therefore also be used as a preventative measure to maintain good health and harmonise well-being.
